Railway timetable changes from September

Proposed timetable changes for the Cotswold Line from September - the first post-redoubling timetable - have been posted on the ever-helpful First Great Western Coffeeshop website.

Significant changes include:

  • Speeding up most services, including the 6am service from Charlbury to Paddington, and the 5.20pm/5.50pm services from Paddington to Charlbury.
  • Extra services at lunchtime/mid-afternoon to fix the two-hour gaps in service at present.
  • Charlbury and Hanborough calls restored in morning peak service to Worcester.
  • Adjustments to mid-morning services to Oxford/Paddington (now departing approx. 9.45am and 10.15am).

The document says that the typical speed-up between London and Worcester will be between 3 and 10 minutes - but in some cases up to 20 minutes faster.
