Postal strike on Tuesday

Although local postmen and women will be delivering your mail as usual, staff at the Swindon sorting office will be on stroke from 4am on Tuesday till 4am on Wednesday this week.

If you post a letter from one side of Charlbury to the other, it is sorted in Swindon.

Grant deadline with Town Council

If your organisation wishes to apply for a grant from the Town Council, for the fiscal year 2010-2011, then all applications need to be with the clerk no later than 31st October 2009.

New train to relieve morning crush

The Oxford Mail reports that Charlbury is to get an extra morning train to relieve the pressure on the 10.08.

From December, there'll also be a 9.52 service to Oxford, continuing as a stopping train to London Paddington - but with a connection to an HST at Didcot Parkway.

Yellow Pages can now be put into black boxes for recycling

Now from 2009 onwards, you can put your old Yellow Pages into the black box for recycling - previously these had to be collected separately in a special skip at the Spendlove.

Corner House and Memorial Hall booking forms now online

Booking forms and hire charges for the Corner House and the Memorial Hall are now available online. Click on "Community" above, then on "Charlbury Corner House and War Memorial Hall Committees", and download what you need.

You will also find a copy of the rules and regulations governing hire and use of both premises.

Charlbury Exhibition Foundation Student Grants

If you are under 25, live in Charlbury and have a guaranteed place for a University College or Vocational course or apprenticeship you may apply to The Charlbury Exhibition Foundation for a grant. Write to CEF c/o Mrs Kate Gerrish 62 Ticknell Piece Road Charlbury OX7 3TW by 1st October 09 giving age, schools attended, details of course, University/College etc. Those attending short training courses sponsored by Charlbury Youth Organisatiions may also apply.
