Southern Gas Networks impound car - without notice

Southern Gas Networks, who are carrying out works on Sheep Street, have impounded a Charlbury resident's car and demanded a £170 fine to get it back - without giving any notice.

Steven Jones' car, parked near his house on Sheep Street, was towed away on Wednesday while he was at work - although other cars on the road were left in place.

On contacting SGN after returning home, he was told that the car had been taken to a remote location in Gloucestershire. There had been no advance warning, although the next day, a letter arrived saying that works would be taking place on the street. The letter promised that five days' notice would be given if access to any property was required.
