Councillor Owen supports salt bins request

After the recent controversy surrounding the County Council's refusal to provide any but three of the twelve salt bins requested by the Town Council, Charlbury's Tory county councillor Neil Owen has written to the council's cabinet member for transport, Rodney Rose, urging him to reconsider.

He says the Town Council is better placed than the Highways Department to decide where bins are needed, and that 'there are many strategic points where a saltbin would be advantageous'.

The Town Council pays for the bins, and the highways dept refills them.
