Have your say on walking, wheeling and cycling in Charlbury
Oxfordshire County Council’s public consultation on the Charlbury and surrounding area Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) is now open.
So what exactly is an LCWIP?
Put simply, it is a long-term list of possible improvements that could make it easier and safer for people to walk, wheel and cycle around Charlbury.
The plan looks at routes people use for everyday journeys – for example to school, work, shops and other amenities – and identifies places where improvements might be useful.
Nothing in the plan means that a particular scheme has been agreed or will automatically happen. Individual proposals would still need to be developed and funded in the future, with any necessary consultation and approvals taking place as schemes develop.
And importantly, the LCWIP does not stop cars from travelling around Charlbury. It is about identifying sensible ways in which walking, wheeling and cycling could be made easier and safer alongside other forms of transport.
Have your say
This is a draft plan and OCC wants to know what local people think. You can comment on the routes and suggested improvements, say what you think is missing or unnecessary, and suggest changes. Your responses will be considered before the final version of the plan is prepared.
OCC would particularly like to hear from people who find it challenging to walk, wheel or cycle in the Charlbury area, and whether the plan reflects their needs. Let's Talk Oxfordshire
The consultation closes on 29 October 2026.
