Charlbury Museum News - New Acquisition
'In Charlbury' an engraving by Joseph Winkelman, 1979, was acquired by Charlbury Museum in April 2026 for its collection. Joseph lived at Heathfield, Browns Lane from the late 1970s until the early 1980s; he was born in Iowa, USA and studied Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing.
Joseph created numerous etchings and aquatints of Charlbury and the surrounding area, his prints are in numerous public collections. Now Charlbury Museum is the proud owner of one of his works. His etching captures the traffic chaos in Browns Lane in the late '70s , before it became a one-way street!
