Dyers Hill to be resurfaced Tuesday 17th February
Oxfordshire County Council has programmed to complete the full width resurfacing of Dyers Hill on Tuesday 17th February; 0730 – 19:00hrs via a single daytime full road closure. This will include the closing of Thames Street at the top of the hill as well. Works will include ironwork adjustments and the resurfacing of the existing carriageway surface, following which all existing road markings will be reinstated.
As well as Dyers Hill itself, the resurfacing works include the junction area of both Market Street and Thames Street which will therefore also be fully closed. No vehicular access will be possible south of Nine Acres Lane and Market Street will become a cul-de-sac with the single point of access/egress via the junction with Sheep St / Church St.
The One-Way restriction in Market Street has been formally suspended for the works duration. Traffic management operatives will cover all signage relating to the restriction and be on hand to assist with providing vehicular access. Market Street will not be a through route.
There will be no vehicular access along Dyers Hill, Thames Street or through from Market Street during the works. Pedestrian access remains unaffected with residents being able to walk down to the railway station if required.
This is purely a maintenance scheme so currently everything will be reinstated ‘like for like’. A fully signed diversion will be installed routing traffic around the closure during the working hours.
A copy of the approved letter has also been attached which will arrive with businesses and residents two weeks prior to work starting.
Bus services will run as usual through Charlbury as they don’t utilise Dyers Hill / Thames Street as part of their regular scheduled services.
