Meadow at Mill field -the latest

🌾 Thanks a bunch to our brilliant volunteers! 🌾

A huge thank you to everyone who came along this week to help rake up the hay on the meadow area at Mill Field! Your hard work is such an important part of our ongoing floodplain meadow restoration project – and we couldn't do it without you.

This project began in autumn 2023 with a grant from Sustainable Charlbury, aiming to bring back the beautiful, species-rich meadows that once thrived here. It's taken a lot of mowing, harrowing, sowing, planting (and patience with the weather!), but we're finally starting to see Yellow Rattle and other wildflowers coming through.

Keep an eye out for more opportunities to get involved this autumn – we'll be planting out new seedlings grown from ancient meadow seed at Long Mead, and sowing more Yellow Rattle too. 🌼🌿

And don’t forget to check out the new interpretation board next time you’re down at Mill Field to learn more about the project!
