Climate emergency meeting, May 30th

Thanks to Jon Carpenter, 18 people met at the Friends Meeting House on the 29th May to discuss climate change and the recent actions by Extinction Rebellion (XR). People came from a range of backgrounds – some have been on XR actions, others have been lifelong Green campaigners and others only recently started to get interested in climate change - but all are sufficiently concerned to want to come together to contribute to challenging and changing the desperate situation we are in.

An informal group has now been created to turn this all into action. There are a variety of initiatives already underway that people can support – such as trying to persuade Charlbury Town Council to declare a climate emergency – and establishing an Extinction Rebellion group in Charlbury. The opportunities for involvement are numerous and everyone – young and old is invited to participate. A more detailed report back from the meeting is available on the Forum.
