Charlbury Museum is 70!!

On the 25th May 1949, 52 people met at Charlbury School and agreed to form The Charlbury Society. One of its main aims was to establish a museum, in the words of Miss Prescott, 'not a place to accumulate dust (physical and mental) but rather a home for the Society ...'

And so on this day, 70 years ago, the foundations of our town's museum were laid, and continuing in that aim of our founders we try to provide a place to stimulate the mind and show just how life was in the Charlbury of years past.
