Community Speedwatch March update

Your Community Speedwatch team have been taking advantage of improved weather and greater daylight to hold more sessions, 6 in the last month, on The Slade, Enstone Rd, Woodstock Rd & Forest Rd.  At each of these sessions we have used our new Speed Indicator Device (SID, see picture) recently purchased by The Town Council and with the support of Thames Valley Police (TVP).  This new device shows each driver their individual speed along with warnings to slow down or thanking them for observing the correct speed.  This has had a dramatic effect on drivers, with more slowing once they are aware of their speed. Despite this, on each session we have still recorded drivers ignoring the limits.  They will be contacted by TVP and their details recorded on the national database.  At our Forest Rd session today, we were supported by TVP who pulled over speeding drivers to offer advice on improving their driving skills.  You will see us out regularly in the coming weeks and if you want to join us or suggest locations that need our attention please contact us on CharlburyCSW@gmail.com.
