Road closure for works to gas pipelines postponed

Some residents and traders at the centre of Charlbury will have received notification last week from British Gas (ie Southern Gas Networks) that they were about to begin works along Park St and the Bull Corner end of Market St, possibly upper part of Dyers Hill and down Pound Hill too.

The works would have closed off access to the centre of town in the run up to Christmas and had considerable impact on traders.

After meeting with the Charlbury Chamber of Commerce last week, British Gas contacted us to say they understood the traders' concern and will reschedule the works to February/March.

Phew.

So we can expect a full turn out now for late-night Christmas shopping on Weds December 14th (note for your diaries). And we understand there will be the usual Christmas trees in place this year too.
