Refugee crisis in Greece - urgent help needed

  • There is a desperate need of support on the island of Lesvos after devastating fires in the overcrowded Moria camp on the 8th and 9th of September which left 13,000 people homeless.
  • The fires started hours after reports that 35 people had tested positive for Covid-19 at the camp.
  • Since then, families have been sleeping in fields and on roads. Charities working on Lesvos, like Attika and Help Refugees need our help more than ever.

Covid-19 – its effects on refugees and on CRAG fundraising

  • Refugees, many of whom already live in difficult, dangerous and unhealthy conditions, face new danger because of Covid-19.
  • They often live in conditions where the measures we take for granted, such as regular hand washing and social distancing, are very difficult if not downright impossible.
  • Much of CRAG’s income comes from public events including the Sunday tea concerts, which have simply not been taking place in recent months and such events are unlikely to go ahead in the near future.
  • Despite this we are committed to continuing to raise funds for refugees.

A virtual tea concert!

  • During lockdown, 12 internationally renowned musicians well known to our CRAG audiences, including Margaret Fingerhut, Alastair Ross, Philippa Davies, Dorian Ford and Maggie Cole have donated special recordings to raise funds for CRAG.
  • These have been combined into a fantastic concert of music ranging from Purcell to jazz and accompanied by beautiful videography and photography of Charlbury and Oxford.
  • This is NOT TO BE MISSED! It is a veritable treat, which you will be able to enjoy again and again!
