The Charlbury Beer and Wine Circle

The group has been meeting regularly since being established in June 1978. Previously the name was The Charlbury Beer and Wine Making Circle but with no members now producing their own favourite tipple, the word ‘making’ has been dropped. Our focus today is chiefly on wine, with only occasional tastings of beer.

We meet monthly in the Memorial Hall, with a varied programme including professional and member-led tastings, vineyard visits, a garden party, walks and a BBQ, to which new members and guests are welcome.

Our meeting on 20th March was a tasting of six wines presented by Melina Cucchiara from Moreton Wine Merchants Ltd. in Moreton in Marsh. Melina offered us wines from Australia, Europe and South America, with her knowledge and enthusiastic commentary helping to make the evening a great success. The smooth, medium bodied Chateau Buisson-Redon Bordeaux being the firm favourite of many members. A train trip to Moreton to sample more of Melina's wines and the charcuterie on offer is surely on the cards.

April's meeting will be an informal social occasion at 7.00 pm on Monday 17th in the Garden Room.

15th May will see Eynsham Cellars visit us in the Memorial Hall with their choice of six wines.

Annual membership costs just £10, as do tastings. The fee for guest attendance at tastings is £15.
