While public worship is paused due to the coronavirus outbreak, we are live-streaming communion services on Sundays and Wednesdays. The Sunday service begins at 8am and can be watched either live or on ‘catch-up’ afterwards. Click here to watch on YouTube.
St Mary's Church is the parish church for all the people of Charlbury. All are welcome to come along to any of our services or events. There are two main services each Sunday:
8.00 traditional Holy Communion
9.45 Parish Communion (traditional Holy Communion format with a mixture of traditional and modern elements). There are two groups for children and young people, there is an active choir, and there is always coffee and a chat afterwards.
6.00 Evening Prayer (1st Sunday of the month, 4.00pm in Winter).
Ignite contemporary worship service every other month - see events page for dates.
Look out for our special services and events in the Events section of this site. We hold regular messy church services, choral evensong and taize services. For more information, go to the church website, www.stmaryscharlbury.co.uk, or contact the Parish Office (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Have you visited our other church at Shorthampton? It's only a short walk or drive from Charlbury. Follow the road past the station (towards Burford), and take the right turn towards Chadlington: Shorthampton is signposted on the left. The little church is kept open during the day and is totally exquisite, with original box pews, a view across the fields and a collection of medieval wall paintings. There is an Evening Prayer service there at 6pm (11.15am in Winter) on the second Sunday of the month.
