Charlbury WI

Charlbury Women's Institute

Charlbury WI was reformed in March 2009 with new members each year. It is a friendly, diverse group with members aging from their 20's to their 80's.

Meetings are held in the Morris Room, Corner House, Market Street, Charlbury on the third Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm. Subjects are varied, interesting, and inspiring. Visitors are welcome to attend and there is no pressure to join. Please feel free to come along and see what we are all about.

Subscriptions £31.50 per year / £13.07 dual membership as an additional WI.
Visitors £4 per meeting. All welcome - members and non-members.

For more information please e-mail patriciaehill@onetel.com who is the Honorary President.

Nationally, the WI is actively campaigning on many issues, see their website. Thursday 22 March 2012 is World Water Day and the WI are campaigning to make members more aware of water issues, to drink tap water rather than bottled water, to reduce water usage from the average of 150 litres per person per day, to increase the number of drinking water fountains in our towns. Download PDF about water usage. Saturday 31 March 2012 from 8.30-9.30pm is WWF Earth Hour 2012 join hundreds of millions of people all round the world and turn out your lights for 1 hour. Recognise that the actions we take, the energy we use, the food we buy, the water we drink has an effect on the planet every day of the year.

Charlbury is part of the Oxfordshire Federation of WIs. Have a look at the calendar of events in Oxfordshire, there is an wide range of topics, events are open to members and some to non-members. Book through our WI Treasurer (email cavelltish@aol.com) except for last minute bookings which are through the Federation Office at Tackley (01869-331081, open 10am-3pm closed all day Thursday) to see if spaces are still available.

Courses on crafts and cookery are also available to members, non-members, men and women at the WI's national training centre at Denman College which is very local to us at Marcham near Abingdon.
