Charlbury's Own Cinema (ChOC), set up in 2005, is a 'not for profit' Community Cinema run entirely by volunteers. We screen films in Charlbury's War Memorial Hall, usually on the second Sunday of each month.
From March to October, the film programme starts at 7.30pm. During the winter months, November, January and February it starts at 7pm.
We hold a family matinee screening in December which starts at 3pm.
Doors open for ticket sales 45 minutes before the start of the film, our popular wine and beer bar opens at the same time.
Admission is £5 for adults and, when applicable, £3 for U15s. At matinee screenings there is a £12 Family admission available covering two adults and one or two children.
Net proceeds after screening costs are used to purchase replacement equipment. We have a full set of equipment necessary to screen films including two projectors, speakers, mixer, DVD and Blu Ray players and all of the associated cabling required to set up in the Hall. In addition, we have bought and installed an electronic screen in the Memorial Hall and ChOC also contributed to the cost of the new chairs in the Hall.
Every month we issue an electronic newsletter giving details of our upcoming films, and, occasionally, details of other events and concerts taking place in Charlbury. To join the mailing list, please send your request to firstname.lastname@example.org
Sunday 13th May at 7.30pm: Two Days, One Night Cert. 15
Exhibition on Screen: Canaletto And The Art Of Venice
Full details of films to be shown can be found in the events listing of this website.
We welcome volunteers to assist at screenings or join the projection team. If you would like to be more involved in Charlbury's community cinema, please send an email to email@example.com, phone Richard on 01608 810032 or come along to any screening and speak to a committee member.
Donations to local organisations
Net proceeds from the raffle held at monthly film screenings are donated to charities and community organisations based in and around Charlbury. Donations in the region of £100 are made on average every four to five months. If you would like your organisation to be considered as a recipient in the future, please email firstname.lastname@example.org giving contact name, organisation and a brief description of how the donation would be used.
Assistance to other locally based organisations
Subject to the availability of projectionists, we are happy to assist other organisations in Charlbury. In the first instance requests for assistance should be made by email to: email@example.com or by phone to Steve or Jackie on 01608 810713.
