Getting your shopping delivered

If you’re house-bound and need your shopping to be done, volunteers are able to help.

  • Phone your request through to the Community Centre on 01608 811878. (If the number is engaged, call 01608 819253.)
  • Volunteers will do your shopping (from Charlbury shops) and deliver it to you. They will leave it outside your door.
  • Pay over the phone by card, or if you don’t have a card, we will keep an account for you.

We can’t obtain goods from outside Charlbury – only from the shops here.

Can you help?

We need volunteers to do the shopping and make the deliveries. Please contact the Community Centre on 01608 811878 or email

Charlbury shops are still open

Shops including the Deli, Pharmacy and Londis are still open. Please support your local shops – they need your custom more than ever.

Co-op opening hours are now 7am–8pm Mon–Sat, 8am–8pm Sun.

All hairdressers are closed, as are the vets.

The Curiosities Company can deliver their bacon within Charlbury for no extra charge. Call 07584 356595 or visit .

The Charlbury Deli's open. Though not for eating or drinking in the cafe

The Deli's still fully stocked with most basic groceries, like eggs, milk and bread. Usually organic and locally-made: always scrumptious.

We'll whip up a delicious Deli sandwich for you to take home or to munch during your daily outdoor exercise.

If you'd like to pick up a treat while buying necessities: we've got the nicest chocolates for miles, delicious cheeses, the town's most interesting wine range and sensational local sourdough.

And when the days get longer, and the sun starts shining a bit more, you'll probably be able to watch the world go by from our tables along Market St or in our lovely walled garden again. But right now: the cafe's closed

Our website will explain.

A message from the Deli and Cotswold Frames

Lynn at the Deli has asked me to remind you all that the Deli stocks all your basics like flour, milk eggs and cheese, Cotswold frames has lots of art stuff for the kids as well as traditional games etc to keep them amused over the next few weeks and we have also just taken delivery of a load of TOILET paper as the co-op  never seems to have any so thought I would stock some for a while.

So please don't forget the other shops in the centre of town we are still here and will remain open for as long as possible.

Thai to go update

Mark & Katie posted this earlier today in Facebook & asked me to copy here for their Charlbury customers.

"In order to protect our customers, we have made the important decision to offer a delivery service to the local area, instead of trading directly from our van in our regular villages. We will offer this on Wednesday from 4-8pm.

We will take payment via a secure link prior to delivery to make things as safe as possible.

If you’d like to place an order, please call us on our usual number 07971345106 and we’ll give you the details. Orders will need to be placed before 6pm.

There will be no delivery charge, however a minimum order of £25 will be required

We really do appreciate your support and want to continue to give you the best safest possible service.

Please Share

Thank you Mark & Katie"

Give & Take scheme – access to food when times are hard

A ‘Give & Take’ table has been set up near the front door of the Community Centre. If you have any extra tins of food, packets of pasta, cartons of long-life milk, etc, that you could spare, please do put them in the collection box.

With schools and businesses closing, there are many people and households who will find it increasingly hard to manage. Please do give what you can.

Equally, if you know of someone who could use a bit extra now, please feel free to take something away or encourage them to pop in. Items will be available during the Centre’s opening times: 9.00 to 5.00 weekdays, 9.00 to 12 noon at weekends.

The scheme can also take specific item requests and deliver to someone’s home.

If you cannot come to the Community Centre but have items to give, you can email and the scheme will arrange someone to pick items up at your door:

Donations in cash or by cheque or digital transfer are also accepted towards keeping the scheme stocked up. St Mary’s Church is coordinating this, bank details as follows:

Account Name: Charlbury Parochial Church Council (the short form “Charlbury PCC” may also be used)

Sort Code: 40-52-40

Account Number: 00032374

Reference: Give&Take

Please ensure that you use the reference (Give&Take) on both cheques and electronic payments, so that track can be kept of the separate fund. Please also notify the scheme that you have made a payment and the name of your bank account by emailing:

The scheme also has toilet rolls reserved for the elderly and especially vulnerable kindly donated by Cotswold Frames. Do come and get some, if you or someone you know need any. You can just take some or swap them for another item that others might need.

New fresh veg box collection every Saturday afternoon

Normally Styans come to Charlbury Farmers Market every 3 months, but now we are lucky they are making up veg boxes for collection in Charlbury every Saturday afternoon between 2.30-3pm from outside the Community Centre. Bring your own bag to transfer produce from the box AND keep your social distance at all times. To reduce contacts maybe arrange to collect for friends and neighbours.

Order your box from by 10pm previous Thursday and pay online.

House-bound and need your box delivered? Call the Community Centre on 01608 811878 or if engaged try 01608 819253 (weekdays only) or email your request to

Boxes are Large or Small or Small Without Potatoes and there are optional extras like beetroot, Jerusalem artichokes, honey, and Worcestershire tomatoes grown using heat from a biomass boiler.

Organised by Charlbury Green Hub in conjunction with Janet Burroughs from Charlbury Farmers Market, Nikki Rycroft from Patients Participation Group, and Tanya Stevenson from the Community Centre.
