Sun 2 Aug, 19:03 Don’t know if it is relevant but SSE have this week chopped trees down in the millennium woods that were potentially impacting on the power lines |

Sun 2 Aug, 17:48 I was in touch with SSE and thought you may be interested in their reply - looks like some investigation underway. "Hello, I am very sorry about the repeated power issues you have been having recently. I have spoken to quite a few people over the last few days from your area so I really do understand the frustrations. These brief power cuts usually happen when something comes into contact with our power lines, most often wildlife or trees. When this occurs, our safety systems automatically switch the power off for a short time to protect the network. Our control engineers monitor the network 24/7 and each time the power goes off it creates a job on our network so there is a full audit trail for this. We have also installed fault finding equipment on the main network to help narrow where the issue is as unfortunately without a location or knowledge of what's actually causing it, there is not much action we can take. Please do not think this is being ignored and that there isnt any work going on in the background to help the situations. With that said, power is normally restored within a few minutes. If it doesn’t come back on, or if you notice low voltage, please let us know straight away so we can investigate." |

Fri 31 Jul, 15:11 Ever since the big power cut my smart electricity reader is resetting itself every morning as if there's been a power cut at some point overnight. I haven't looked at the meter itself and I'm somewhat loath to contact OVO about it in case I'm told I now owe them £1k.... |

Fri 31 Jul, 14:02 It’s weird that it happens at the same time on each occasion (we experienced it today as well). I wonder if it maybe related to something starting up at Wilderness, I assume they must have significant sized diesel generators that might kick in around that time over the last week? |

Fri 31 Jul, 10:38 This is peculiar. Some of my relatives are staying in Broadwell, near Stow at the moment and they had a power cut at 5am which lasted until 8am this morning, surely a totally different power grid? But also experiencing the same issues. A larger problem at hand? |

Fri 31 Jul, 10:30 We had the same. I also reported to SSE both last weekend and today and they are monitoring but have not raised to have engineers fully investigate. Apparently if it keeps happening they will eventually send engineers to check local power lines. |

Sun 26 Jul, 15:09 ...although what I just posted, it seems it is all working without a problem, but that was written two weeks ago, so there could be regular blips in the Hz to cause random cuts; I didn't have one today, but I did have one last Sunday and again on Wednesday. |

Sun 26 Jul, 15:04 Although this is looking ahead, it is interesting to note the reliance on the inter-connectors (electricity from other countries such as France and Norway (yes, by undersea cable)). Given the recent heat and the subsequent demands for electricity, it is perhaps the grid having issues overall, not just very locally. |

Sun 26 Jul, 11:30 I have contacted SSEN by ringing 105, the number to call about power cuts. I have explained the situation being experienced by a range of properties in Charlbury (including ours) and surrounding area. The SSEN staff member checked to see if there is any recorded problem their end and could not see anything. He said that sometimes as a matter of routine the network switches off momentarily (reason quoted was SSEN-speak and I was none the wiser but this did not seem to necessarily mean a problem). He said he would log my call and monitor the situation. He advised that anyone else experiencing power interruptions, should ring 105 to report them. |

Sun 26 Jul, 07:38 We’ve had a brief power interruption twice this weekend at around 06:30 on Saturday and today Sunday. We’re in Park St and I’d like to know if anyone else noticed anything before I start checking our house wiring. |
