Never mind the timing, I’m just delighted this is being done and it will be a visual upgrade to such an important Charlbury feature!  It’s quite exciting and I can’t wait to see it in full splendour later this week.

The old photos of the fountain when Queen Victoria visited are wonderful. Curious that it originally had an old fashioned iron framed street light atop it. Was that a gas light? Back then the street lighting was not as good so I understand why it was there, and undeniably the fountain looks more elegant now without the light. Of course, it’s a now a rather dry fountain and does not fulfil its purpose. When did it cease to provide the intended hydration? Is that something that might be restored? Increasingly water fountains are provided in London to reduce plastic waste.

Looking forward to it being unveiled and standing glorious once more!

It's a pity that the fountain can't be done prior to the Street Fair!
