Mon 5 Oct, 13:11 To be honest and blunt I don't believe the Charlbury town charter is worth the paper it's printed on as far as wodc are concerned. You might as well screw it up with your objections and comments ready for bonfire night. They won't be standing by it or take it in to consideration even if they say they will because they are already dismissing and undermining it already. I believe this to be little more than an exercise to keep Charlbury people quite, preoccupied and give a false sense of security. Yes, i can prove it on page 90-92 of the Charlbury town charter concerning the old town quarry. The quarry has been marked as a blue/green corridor for wildlife as the species rich and biodiverse area it is. The quarry was well known for the large newt population and newt ponds as people called them before my wife and I even stepped foot into the property, common local knowledge. The new shareholders have just been granted permission for tree works to be carried out despite all of the objections in place. This will mean the removal of vital dead wood habitat both free standing and fallen within the first area of the quarry. They have been made fully aware of the wildlife within and the significance of the area even being passed a full list of the 3000 + photographically recorded wildlife within. Locally known as the habitat of the Great Crested, smooth and palmate newts as well as frogs, toads, slow worms and grass snakes. Also within this area are other rare and protected species like the nearly 28 species of butterfly found here including the rarea and protected White Letter hairstreak, Small Heath and Small Blue butterfly to name a few. Then the Bee's like Brown Banded carder bee's, Mossy carder, Bartsia, Late Ivy mining bee, Rudderal Bumblebee amongst many others. It also includes Charlburys very own colony of Roman snails accidentally introduced from Gloucestershire by a child 35 ish yrs ago. This can be confirmed with a simple dna test, but not even the single possibility of these specie's existence is worth checking. The only specie's of wildlife that wodc are concerned about is bat's, i love bat's but they alone will not restore our countryside on their own. The dead wood clearance is in preparation for a single, very expensive dwelling to be built for a Mr Churchill currently residing on Ditchley estate. No social housing, no affordable housing and will mark the end for the rest of the property. It will become the old quarry at Ditchley and not the old town quarry of Charlbury. Probably saluted with the famous Churchill 2 fingered salute along the way. I've not been able to have my record's officially recorded because of the sensitivity and vulnerability of the property to trespassing. People have a way of descending on places where they believe they will either get a picture, a sample or kill something for pleasure. If it wasn't for the barefaced lies that were spread about me and my wife as an act of disability discrimination alone, it might just of been possible. But because people were encouraged to break in, trespass and cause criminal damage it became impossible for me to release my record's. This property would of been protected from boundary line to boundary line otherwise. These lies persist even to today with the latest one being that we are harbouring, feeding hundreds of deer within the property. I have even caught people from Stonesfield trespassing, hoping to catch sight of the hundreds of deer, they left very disappointed. Who ever started that one is more delusional than I've ever been or justdownrightstupid! There is absolutely no fertile imagination involved just trying to undermine the integrity of the property. What it is, it's signicance in the local landscape, it's importance on a national level as the first and only remodeled quarry in the country. Also attempting to undermine the pure re-wilding project this quarry was remodeled for and what has been achieved here over the years as a consequence. These lies of hundreds of deer has been taken and used as an excuse for crop damage that occuered one year, hundreds of deer were not the reason why. Any stragglers that had been present had left to rejoin the main herd in order to give more protection to the babies on the way before the damage was done. If we had of been harbouring/feeding hundreds of deer and with all the other natural resources within the property why would they leave? Deer also walk on their toes generally walking through areas causing minimal damage, they don't generally flatten everything in their path. Anyone with pet's or a small holding with livestock can tell you a thing or two about feeding animals when they only see you as a food source and they all want it now. Much like a bunch of 'hangry' toddlers screaming for food, anything can and will probably happen the longer it takes to feed them all. Feeding hundreds of deer would of been suicidal when they are all young male's staying out of the way of the rutting season. I certainly wouldn't be writing this on account of being constantly in and out of hospital with broken bones from being trampled in the rush for food. I get a very basic war pension, i couldn't even feed hundreds of dogs, cats, birds even probably mice on that a week. Now that fact of not being able to officially record the wildlife of this property is being very taken advantage of, as well as the knowledge of my disabilities to push this through. If you really want to know exactly what the Charlbury town charter means to wodc then just keep watching the quarry. It won’t be long after the dead wood is cleared along with probably most of the wildlife that a planning application will be submitted. By that time there will be nothing by way of protected wildlife or habitat left to worry about. Plans are already being drawn up if not already completed. If, as the government and councils make out climate change is a very real threat and not as Trump states 'fake news', are they so determined to destroy the countryside and wildlife we rely on. Fact! This country hasn't been self sufficient for food since the 1840's when an act of grain was signed. The closest we came was in the 1980's, presumably the hey day of pesticides and herbicides. The chances of this country ever being self sufficient for food again is 0%, but we will all pay the price along the way. Capitalists , you've got to love em! Apparently, I've never known why just someone said that once. Probably a Capitalist. |
