A place to meet: Charlbury Men’s Group

Charlbury Men’s Group (CMG) offers local men a welcoming place to meet, talk, and make connections. Over tea and biscuits at the Charlbury Community Workshop, members enjoy conversation and occasional speakers. There are currently several regular attendees, and newcomers are welcome.

The group was initiated by the Charlbury Patient Participation Group through Alan Jenkins. It meets at the Community Workshop with the trustees' kind permission. Trustee Simon Walker generously gives his time to open and close the building and help make the meetings possible.

With support from Community Catalysts, CMG has been officially recognised as a community micro-enterprise (CME). A modest grant awarded by Oxfordshire County Council and Community Catalysts has helped the group to learn new design and IT skills and enabled it to produce flyers to reach more local men. You may have seen these around the town, in communal places, and on noticeboards.

Sarah Lawrence, the media and communications officer at Oxfordshire County Council, has visited CMG to prepare an article, photos, and video for wider circulation.

The aim of the Charlbury Men's Group is to offer a friendly local place for men to connect. If you would like more company but feel unsure about joining a group, come along, have a cup of tea and see what you think!
