Sun 21 Jun, 19:49 (last edited on Sun 21 Jun, 19:51) Hi Charlbury!!! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself properly to those who may not know me, and to share some exciting news about the continuation of my youth work in our community. My name is Bryanna Bone and I have been working in Charlbury as a private, self-employed youth worker for a number of years. During that time I have had the pleasure of working with some brilliant young people across a range of programmes, operating in collaboration and partnership with various local organisations, business and local authorities in Oxfordshire. My work has also been supported by local residents and organisations who have generously donated to crowdfunding campaigns to fund my youth work. It is worth clarifying that my youth work has been delivered privately. When I became a founding member of the Youth Ambassador Steering Group in Spring 2024, this group was formed as an independent body with various organisations in Charlbury represented on it and contributing to it in various forms. Due to the administrative load of a private youth worker, a local organisation offered its infrastructure to be used to support the Youth Ambassador’s private youth work. In August 2024, I decided to use this grass roots initiative for a portion of my private youth work in Charlbury and became Youth Ambassador. I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished these past two years and the doors that have been opened for me and the students I’ve supported. While various organisations have provided independent oversight and administrative infrastructure to my youth work in Charlbury, the programmes themselves have been designed, developed, and delivered by me as a self-employed practitioner. The funding we raised as a community these past two years has gone towards various youth programmes and projects, as well as the delivery and management of Charlbury Community Centre’s Friday Night Drop-In. While I’m no longer Youth Ambassador, I am delighted to share that I am now continuing and expanding my youth work as Youth Voice Strategist for the West Oxfordshire Youth Panel, Founder of OXIE, as well as Youth Corner CIC — a Community Interest Company that provides operational infrastructure for lone youth workers. Youth Corner is the new home for the following programmes in Charlbury: 🧡 Art Corner — our creative arts programme for young people 💜 Philosophy Corner — our much-loved discussion and critical thinking sessions 💛 Monthly Youth Open Mic Nights (Potential name: Open Mic Drop?) — a space for young people to perform, hang out, and be heard 💗 Pink Corner — a long awaited after school programme launching in September, created for and with young women in our community. Trans and non-binary youth welcome. Young people and families have already begun registering with Youth Corner, and I could not be more grateful for the trust and enthusiasm they have shown as I embark on this new chapter. If you would like to find out more, get involved, or register your young person, please visit www.youthcorner.uk or feel free to message me directly at info@youthcorner.uk I will be launching our very first crowdfunding campaign at Charlbury Beer Festival this Saturday at 2pm at the Culture Tent. Thank you for the continued support and I’m looking forward to what comes next! Bryanna Bone |
