Fri 29 May, 14:05 (last edited on Fri 29 May, 14:09) Charlbury Youth Community — Our 2024–2026 Impact Report Is Here! Two years ago, I became Charlbury's first Youth Ambassador. Today, we're publishing our 2024–2026 Impact Report — and I've been sitting with how much this role has meant to me. Mentoring young people. Sitting with them through hard moments. Showing up for their wins. Watching them realise — sometimes for the first time — how creative, talented, and clever they truly are. Both students and adults brought their ideas to me. Together, we turned ideas into reality. We built BEAKON, a magazine written and edited entirely by young people. We led the Tree Hugging Festival, bringing the whole town together around our vision for Charlbury's natural environment. We pitched wildflower strips to the County Council and won. We started a Youth Town Council. We organised holiday parties, open mic nights, and a drone football league. We launched Youth Art Club, Philosophy Night, Youth Badminton, and grew our Friday Drop-In. And through all of this, we collaborated with dozens of local businesses and community groups. NONE of this happens without our volunteers, our families, our funders, and a town that shows up. Thank you to the Thomas Gifford Trust, Charlbury Arts, Sustainable Charlbury, The Bell, The Bull, Co-Op Charlbury, Cllr Liz Leffman, Town Council, and every resident who has donated, mentored, or simply turned up to lend a hand. It's been the honour of my career to have been a part of this work on the ground. Now I'm working on what comes next. Alongside my new role as Youth Voice Strategist for West Oxfordshire — I am scaling the rapid success we have seen here across Oxfordshire, supporting other lone youth workers running compliance heavy micro-organisations on part-time hours. The operational load is too much for one person. I know because I've lived it. My mission this year is to share the operational infrastructure I've built behind the scenes at Charlbury so that more people who are passionate about youth work can be empowered and equipped in their ongoing work, and perhaps even take their first steps in building their own "Youth Corner" in their community. Stay tuned. Some exciting announcements coming soon! Read the full Impact Report here: https://charlburyyouth.com/about/impact-report/ Bryanna Bone |
