Sun 14 Sep, 20:57 Hello Charlbury, Becky and Debi here, co owners of Clarimore Beautique - Sheep Street. Since opening the salon in 2017 parking hasn’t been easy and as popularity grew parking became more difficult. Although the new restrictions have helped stop the commuters unfortunately we find the restrictions too limiting for our business, majority of our clients travel to us by car from neighbouring villages and for most stay with us for more than one hour. After several failed attempts to make our concerns heard we arranged a meeting with MP Sean Woodcock, and although he can’t change the parking, he listened and advised us to make noise before the years trial is over as after this time it will become even harder to change. We understand trying to please everyone’s parking requirements is a difficult task, but we believe a few tweaks would really help secure our future here in the town. What we propose are as followed; The 30 minute and one hour bays are not long enough for majority of our clients. This is only long enough to pop in to the businesses like the Pharmacy and Co-op. We also believe if the 3 hours dual parking was spread across the other streets within the town and not just Church Street this would help ease Church Streets popularity. We propose Sheep Street, where the salon is situated to become dual use for permit holders and 3 hours maximum for non-permit holders. Currently permit holder only. Since the restrictions have been in place we have found throughout the day spaces are regularly available. Three extra spaces could be added at the bottom of Sheep Street in front of Spring cottage where the road is wide enough. To prevent the Co-op carpark being misused by commuters and non-permit holders this needs to be restricted, minimum of 3 hours. Perhaps another permit for workers of the town could be issued, Woodstock businesses have been granted permits. We recently sent out a survey to our mailing list regarding their parking experience and over half would consider another salon due to parking restrictions this is very concerning for us. So if you feel you could support our proposal we encourage you to email Sean Woodcock and Cc Liz Leffman so that it reaches the right people. sean.woodcock.mp@parliament.uk sean.woodcock.casework@parliament.uk liz.leffman@oxfordshire.gov.uk Much appreciated, Becky and Debi |
