The Charlbury Methodist congregation also submitted a petition to the House of Lords in November 1830, calling for the abolition of slavery. See

On the history of schools in Charlbury, a single copy of the textbook Reading Made Simple (Banbury, 1786), survives in the Public Library in Toronto. The text was by William Rusher, who describes himself as master of the Charity School in Banbury, but the book was available from him at his residence here in Charlbury. Four years later he issued a paraphase of the the Book of Common Prayer, printed by the Oxford printer William Jackson, and also available from the author in Charlbury. Three copies survive - at the British Library, Glasgow University and Cornell.
