Leah, I'm so so sorry about Derek's death.   I've only just heard about it; noone told me and I shall miss his twinkly smile..  He was a real part and big mainstay of the Charlbury scene and I feel devastated for you.

Derek was also the first person to welcome us to Charlbury. Before we actually moved here. Soon after we moved to Oxfordshire, we worked in the same department at OCC in 1975 and he heard we were  buying a house in in Charlbury and he extolled its many virtues.  A lovely kind man

Deeply saddened to hear this, Leah.  What a lovely man.  Fondest memories. Derek always had time for a chat and had a huge fund of interesting and amusing anecdotes. And his ability to maintain a good tenor line well into advanced years was hugely impressive!  Rest in peace dear friend.

Derek was a gentleman in every sense of that word. He will be greatly missed.

You have your faith and, as the supreme pragmatist you are, you will have comfort in the fact that it sudden, it was at home and that you were there. That's something we might all wish for.
