Just to let you know that I have contacted officers myself about this car and as of today this and another car parked for the past month on the B4022 in Finstock, are being investigated by WODC who have the power to take them away.  However, given that the environmental enforcement team consists of 1 full time and 2 part-time officers who cover the whole of West Oxfordshire, and this is regarded as low priority because the cars are taxed, it may be a while before anything is done, so please be patient. And yes, I agree, having such a small team covering such a  wide area and with a very wide remit is ridiculous, and at a meeting yesterday senior officers did in fact say that they are concerned that some of WODC's services have been cut too far....

As other posts have said it is certainly illegal to park an uninsured vehicle on a public road.

If you cannot get a response from the police which seems to be the case then you can report it directly to DVLA who should then take action.  This is the link to the form to do this

https://forms.dft.gov.uk/report-an-untaxed-vehicle/

I believe that should work even though it says Report an untaxed vehicle - worth a try at least

I don't understand why the authorities don't act, having been to most towns and cities in the UK I have seen many cars clamped and huge stickers on them stating 'No Road Fund Licence ' and 'No insurance'. To find out who owns it, just tow it out of the way, they'll soon come running out.

How can it be legally parked is it on the highway with no insurance?

Thanks for all the suggestions, but am back to square one on this and the car is still dumped outside the house. Police say that despite the fact it is uninsured it is 'not of policing interest' because it is not being driven uninsured and it is still MOTed and taxed. Council won't do anything for the same reason as it is legally parked. Can't believe we have to wait until January to be able to do anything about it!

I agree with Paul.

returns that it is not insured.

If that is the case then the police have the power to take it away and have it destroyed.

Try 101 again.  They are badly under-resourced but they should be able to deal with it.

Does anyone know anything about a Vauxhall Vectra KC55 LGG? It has been parked outside my house on the Slade since early morning 1st August and not moved since and so appears to have been abandoned. It has a smashed in front headlamp and a dodgy looking wheel. The police told us to phone the Council but the Council say they can do nothing because it is taxed and has an MOT until Jan 2020. It is making parking anywhere near our houses difficult, and is frankly a bit of an eyesore! Getting very fed up with dragging shopping etc up the hill! Anyone have any ideas?
