Open at 8am this morning. A temporary surface for about 100 metres on the Walcot side of the railway bridge. More work tonight?

Road closed signs have just reappeared - looks like work might actually start, but then I thought that on Monday!

Went through at 5pm today all clear.  Green metal fences have been put up either side of the bridge, is that the extent of the work does anyone know?

The diversion signs are up, looks like work is about to start.

And just (13:40) seen a tanker driver ignore all the signs scoot down the road and get turned back at the mini roundabout!

Was originally down to start on the 8th then moved to the 11th so obviously no sign of anyone today.  Can we keep this thread updated from time to time.  Thanks.

Hannen, as of 1:40pm, it is still open.  Signs have their faces turned to the wall and no sign of workmen.

Don't think there is any problem with the structure of the railway bridge.  It doesn't have a weight limit, anyway.  I assume (or at least, hope) the main works (apart from resurfacing) will be to sort out the damaged drains.

Will there be further works in strengthening the structure to accommodate the numerous HGVs that ignore the current restrictions on a daily occurrence - one day it will collapse,

The temporary traffic order reads as follows:

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the whole length of B4437 Forest Road

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The closure will operate 24 hours per day.

Exemptions are included for police, fire and ambulance services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via Dyers Hill-Charlbury Road-Spelsbury Road-B4026-Chadlington Road-Chapel Road-Horse Shoe Lane-Catsham Lane-B4437 and vice versa

A few weeks ago, there was a post on this website staying this road was closing the first two weeks of July for resurfacing.  Signs have just gone up to say work is commencing on the 11th July expect delays.  Am I to assume that this road is not closing now, but probably will have traffic lights?
