There's a recycling bin for small electrical items in the WODC long-stay carpark in New Street, Chipping Norton.

I think that many charities are reluctant to accept used electrical items because of safety concerns but the Red Cross and the British Heart Foundation do.  Perhaps they raise money by selling them on for recycling?

The UK has a poor record for recycling of electrical items :  "170 million new electrical items are purchase in the UK each year, but we currently recycle less than a third of these when they come to the end of their lifecycle."   Source, see below and for other useful information about recycling electrical items.

Agree with John H except I haven't labelled my "electrical" black box.  The bits and bobs are always taken but I don't know what happens to them.

There are two excellent WODC guides here as to what can be recycled, turns out it's quite a lot including batteries, engine oil, etc.

I have labelled up a black box "SMALL ELECTRICAL" and this goes with the normal recycling. I believe Charities are loathed to take electrical items. JH

Does anyone know of a charity which takes old routers, mobile phones, laptops, cables etc for recycling or re-use?
