I haven't visited Guernsey for about 10 years but if you want a friendly comfortable hotel in St Peter Port with good food I can recommend the Hotel de Havelet.

I can definitely recommend the one on Herm Island. Just a few mins ferry from Guernsey.

All I do know is that they book up fast as accommodation is limited on the Channel Islands.
