Interesting that the BBC ran a post-event report about the trip the day before it actually happened ....

A wonderful sight and a fair crowd out to see it - thanks for the heads-up, John!

Past the old empty barn at Walcot, from the bridleway, a good vista if not close up, and you see the whole train. Real Time Trains shows the train passing at 17.58 hrs o'clock ha ha and it can be monitored here: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U10735/2019/04/06/advanced.

Did you ever hear the tale of the old empty barn, I wonder?

One of the best vantage points is at Ascott Station,  I know it is a little drive, but  it is worth it, as you can see the train powering up the slope towards Moreton, and "thundering " by at speed. Cor!!  JH

Thank you John.

I should just about be able to walk to the bridge, as long as the rubber tyres on my rollator don't give out...

Hannen, as Simon says it'll not be stopping. A good vantage point would be the bridge into Cornbury Park, however it might be slowing down there - at the station the footplate crew normally put on more power so there's a chance of seeing and hearing something more dramatic.

No - it will just be flying through, heading towards Moreton-in-Marsh.

John,

Will it stop to take on water, like that other one did?  "Union of South Africa"? I'm loathe to drive to the station only to catch a fleeting glimpse!  I am happy for you to do so, especially if you post a photo on fb.  ;-)

The UKSteam website says that the recently restored 7029 'Clun Castle' (a GWR 4-6-0 of the type once used on the Cotswold Line) will pass through Charlbury northbound - in the Down direction - on Saturday at about 6PM. See http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t19/t0406c.htm.
