It is Dementia Action Week and I am posting on the Adverts page all week with ideas of small actions that people can take to make a big difference to the lives of people affected by dementia.

Please go to the Alzheimers Society website for more information and make an action !

I am a local Dementia Friends Champion for the Alzheimers Society. Please contact me if you would like me to give a free 45 minute Dementia Friends Info Session for your business or friends and family. I can give the talk in any business or social venue.

Can I also direct you to this website alzheimersshow.co.uk
The organisation I work for our headline sponsors. The show has two days of talks, there is an opportunity to book a 20 minute 1-1 with an Admiral Nurse, stands from various organisations including the Alzheimer's Society and Dementia Research. We will be there, so if you want a catch up you can find me around. I am also doing a talk on the importance of recognising the affects of pain and infection on a person with dementia and how we can recognise this early. Look forward to seeing you.

I have recently had the pleasure of attending a DFC meeting as a local resident and an Admiral Nurse working in London for a homecare company.
Admiral Nurses are specialist dementia nurses supporting families who find themselves in a caring role looking after someone with a diagnosis. There are only 200+ across the country, you can learn more by going onto www.dementiauk.org.
There are no Admiral Nurses working in the Oxford community but if you want to talk to one then you can contact the national helpline on 0800 888 6678.
If you have a question about dementia, care strategies ect then you can always leave a question via the forum and I can see if I can answer it for you.
