Dreadful. So sorry to hear this. Very pleased that nobody was hurt, and that there is no lasting damage. I hope that a culprit (or culprits) is found!

People who are on the Deli's email list got a message this morning Christine, explaining that the Deli was sprayed with engine oil last night. Unbelievable! What is wrong with people?

The Deli's now back to normal after last night's oil attack.

Our thanks to the Weltons and everyone else who raised alarms. Three fire engines turned up just in case, and Thames Valley Constabulary have issued a crime number (43180104911): we need to thank them all for coming so promptly.

Call the police on 101 or 01865 841148 if you saw anything suspicious in the area round about 10.30 last night. Or just mention it to our staff in the shop.

Meanwhile, our thanks to everyone who's come forward with help this morning. Experts on identifying used engine oil types and how to get it off wood, squeegee-wielders and all our other neighbours.

Not to mention Lynne Stubbles who's been up all night as a result.
