The news as people leave their beds,
is Spring has gone awry.
the snow has bowed the hopeful heads,
of Daffs and Narcissisi.

Weary Dads and Mums unpack,
sledges put away.
and drag the kids halfheartedly,
Back to Hundley Way.

Anorexic snowmen lean,
looking most forlorn.
where Wednesday eager gardeners preened,
and prematurely cut their lawns.

Lackluster snowball fights I see,
replacing thoughts of fishing.
Snowballs thrown apathetically,
weak and mostly missing.

There is no run on milk today,
no Co-op woe and sorrow.
Milk-and-more are on their way,
on roads cleared by tomorrow.

The news as people go to bed,
is Spring has had a stutter.
But sun will soon be on your head,
and you can clean your gutters.
