I would not mind getting involved and handing out live CDs of Kubuntu and Ubuntu or even Knoppix.
I think that handing out install disks would be a bad idea because most users would erase their hard drives with them (and lose data).
Linux is ready for the company desktop and servers but is not ready for typical home use. I have 4 Machines that run Linux now and only need a Microsoft OS so that I can do work for customers that mant a Microsoft Solution.
