Just to clarify in response to Martins question on the latest announcement of the Sport England grant of £500,000 from their Improvement Fund. The Trustees explained at the recent public meeting that further funds were being pursued and it was this grant that we referred to. Sport England placed an embargo on announcements so although we had been informed our bid had been successful it required approval by their governing body before an announcement could be made. This was as part of a coordinated national press statement from Sport England and the date for issue was set by them. The grant is targeted directly at sports provision and cannot be used for other purposes. As Tanya confirmed, and we said at the public meeting, more funding is being pursued for the external works, more equipment and furniture so our fund raising efforts continue. We are extremely grateful to all of the organisations and individuals that have assisted to date and we look forward to further support over the coming year.

It's great this grant has been awarded, but if it was known about for a long time why has just been announced?

It's great news that we can announce this grant now and it's a fantastic amount of money. However the TGT committee have known about this money for some time and it's included in our calculations. It allows the centre to be built, but we still need to raise more money for the external works, furnishing and equipment, as Margie said. So we are not totally there yet, budgets are tight and I hope the wonderful community of Charlbury will continue to support our fund-raising efforts.

This has been given a Sports Council Grant so why is there no provision for Charlbury sports and social club this would not take up much off the building and It could have a saperate entrance. Charlbury Sports and social club over the years have raise money towards this but seem to be pushed out out the way

What a fantastic amount of money and a great asset to the community- well done to all that have been involved over the many years .'The realality of efforts given by many - worthy of a bit more community support - ? This, is more important to this town for the current and future generations than imported asparagus in the co op ! Something positive .....for a change ?

I would like to congratulate Marjorie and her fellow trustees on the massive amount of work they have done to make the Community centre a reality after the previous setbacks. It required both time and intellectual ability to get to this point.

Thank you - it's been a great community effort. The grant gives us the amount we need to build the Community Centre building, however, as we reported at the Gifford Trust annual meeting, we will need more funds for external work and for furnishings and equipment. All help and ideas are welcome and appreciated.
