Thanks for the appreciation of our ringing efforts. To be honest, when we are up there doing our New Year stuff we have no idea if anyone is listening. This year it was touch and go whether we could muster a band, since many ringers were off on holiday or visiting relatives - but we made it in the end. You are always welcome to come up and see what we do any Wednesday evening. Have a Happy New Year, from all your Charlbury ringers.

Hi Paul
As a bell ringer many thanks for your comment and it is nice to know we are appreciated

In fact it is a very significant year for our bells as they are 300 hundred years old and as the inscription says Peace and Good Neighbourhood Prosperity to this Town and Parish Abraham Rudhall 1716

and as you heard they are still going strong although they will need some repair this coming year

Yes, thanks for the firework celebrations. A request for the future though, should anyone want to do the same again, please would you avoid using the fireworks that make loud bangs. Having to calm a terrified cat rather spoilt the start to my New Year, and hers!

Thank you to whoever provided the very enjoyable firework display that began on the stroke of midnight last night. And thanks, as ever, to the bell ringers of St. Mary's, for their splendid ringing in of the new year.
