I'd like to put on record my thanks to the BBC in Oxford (radio, tv and on line) for reporting the problems we have had with out mobile phone signals. They took an unbiased approach, reported both sides and, as a result, focused the spotlight on O2's tardy reaction to customers' problems. It had a powerful influence.

I see that there is a BBC charter review underway and the government is threatening to cut back the BBC. I fear that if the government carries out its threats then services such as BBC Oxford will be victims and that would mean local issues, like our mobile phone service, will simply not get aired.

Don't let them ruin one of this country's most valuable assets.
