A recent paper by acoustic scientist, Chris Barnes, has taken some data provided by the Council and made some interesting discoveries about the likely source of the low-frequency hum that some residents hear in Charlbury.

In the meantime, the Council is making a site visit with representatives from Scottish and Southern Electricity to consider the possibility that various substations are emitting frequencies that, together, are creating a third, lower frequency noise.

If you're hearing the very low hum that's particularly noticeable at night, please do let the council know so they can investigate your premises,too, and thus get enough data to perhaps do something about it, finally.
