If you or your family and friends are the holder of a Blue Badge and use the shops etc on Witney High Street, you should know that there are currently 2 consultations on proposals which affect disabled parking. The first would extend the taxi rank and remove the ability of the disabled to park on the slope from the Post office to the Buttercross near to Dr Lea and Oxfam. If you want to object, write to Bill Oddy, Head of Community Services, WODC, Elmfield, Witney, OX28 1PB before 12 December. The other replaces the ability to park on the western side, between Dentons and Welch Way with far less convenient bays. It would reduce the places the disabled can park by half. The proposal can be seen at the WODC Town Centre Shop and objections should be sent to Huw Jones, Director for Environment and Economy, OCC, Speedwell House, Oxford, OX1 1NE before 14 December. The article in the Witney Gazette on 21 November was incorrect, the proposal is instead of not as well as.
