Residents of Charlbury the new tourist Mecca may like to know that I wrote to Cornbury Park some weeks ago now to suggest that they might like to organise a presentation in to town publicizing their plans to build 90 holiday lodges in the forest. No reply as yet.

Obviously not 'us' but 'them'.

The new Visitors' Guide for Charlbury is lovely, but if the holiday development in Wychwood forest goes ahead it will have to be re-written! The part about 'deer and other wildlife can be spotted from public footpaths that border the park' will have to go if the 90 lodges are built. So will 'quiet country lanes ..popular with cyclists and horse riders'. Oh dear.
The Cornbury motto is 'Deus Nobis Haec Otia Fecit' - God made this pleasant place for us'. I wonder which 'us' it means?
