The Slade - Speed Indicators

If the Speed Indicator on Nineacres Lane is anything to go by, almost no-one does 20 mph anyway, so the difference between the devices is irrelevant. It really surprises me that most cars totally ignore the 20mph speed limit on Nineacres Lane, even when there are so many kids using the adjacent playing field daily. I see cars regularly doing 40+mph.

I think the problem is that even if they show two different speeds, most of those seemingly knowingly how to drive lawfully, are going that fast (30, 40, 50+) they cannot see them, or don't give a ****.

Not there to verify their actual location but when they are situated near the brow of  the hill (or the bottom) the orientation of the vehicle to the indicator changes and results in a change to the reported speed. Imagine a pointer which is focused on the bottom of the windscreen at the top of the hill, as the vehicle starts to descend, the pointer moves more rapidly to the top of the screen than it would on the flat

Could it be that as you go down the hill, you are inclined go faster?  That would be the obvious explanation and it is probably intended to show you that is happening

I understand why one would be out there, but I'm not sure why 3?

Also , with them showing different data, whoever is collecting the data may not have accurate information.

I don’t know why they show a speed difference. Maybe they need calibrating. They were put there because a lot of cars are breaking the speed limit on that stretch and it’s particularly dangerous during school run times

Does anyone know why there are 2 Speed Indicator signs within 10m of each other , facing the same direction and show a difference of 4 mph.

 I realise this isn't a lot, but one sign can show someone under the limit but the other can show someone above it.
