S3A weekday changes appear to be:

  • Evening departures from Oxford to Charlbury are currently 1903, 2003, 2203; will become 1903, 2103, 2303
  • The first bus will leave Charlbury at 0610 rather than 0533
  • The last bus will leave Charlbury at 2250 rather than 2233

Otherwise the same as at present.

Dave – I think that’s just that they haven’t listed all the stops in the timetable: the timings between stops suggests it will still go the same way as at present.

Christine – I’ve seen it suggested that we might lose a couple of the evening buses from Charlbury to Oxford, though can’t verify that yet. I honestly wouldn’t blame them if they’d got fed up with trying to squeeze the bus past badly parked Bull customers.

Not so good if it only stops at the crossroads ?

The S7 was brilliant! It connected with the penultimate train from Marylebone.

We have another bus change looming, after Botley Road reopens, now supposed to be September 20th.

The local press is reporting that "The S3 timetable will be adjusted to 'reflect customer demand', and journeys operating to Charlbury will be renamed the S3A to make it clearer where it stops."

The renaming of the route S3A will be a great improvement. But whether the new timetable will prove to be a positive change for us remains to be seen. I have to say I fear the worst after we lost our only bus (the S7) that went directly to Oxford Parkway from Charlbury. It's now re-routed to Witney instead of to Charlbury and/or Chipping Norton.

No details of the S3A timetable are yet available under the updates section of the Stagecoach bus website.

Other proposed changes for better buses into and out of Oxford from the Cotswolds -- mostly to and from Witney -- are reported in the press here.

It would be good to know what the timetable changes might be as I know I am not alone in currently booking up classes and events in Oxford over the next two terms. Those applying for jobs also need to know what the bus timetable is likely to be.

We are very fortunate to have a good bus service in Charlbury for a small town.

So pleased to see this news post today.

Thanks very much to those who worked hard to influence this decision – much appreciated.
