Fri 14 Aug, 19:19 Having just received the Government Alert on my phone it has just confirmed to me that having a bag packed with essentials in (passport, chargers, change of clothes & small.valuables) is not being paranoid in this time of severe drought & our tinder dry countryside posing threat of fire. Being a dog walker every day I am out in the countryside & as time has gone on it is heart breaking to watch it all slowly dying, not to mention the impact it has on our nature. There was a close call a week or so ago when a small fire was discovered & put out in the corner of one of our fields. It was sheer luck that didn’t turn into an inferno! The fires in the West Midlands illustrate just how quick fire can ignite & spread. I also find myself on every dog walk scanning the horizon & sniffing the air for any sign/smell of smoke! This is getting scarey! Please, please we can all do our bit to keep our little town safe. Let’s stay alert & stay safe. |
