No excuses to the driver entering Hixet Wood I just saw push a security guy who was doing his job, to the side with their car.  I hope he raised a complaint.

Surely the closure of Grammar School Hill to buses is a matter for OCC who issued the notices about road closures, rather than the Wilderness Team.

The OCC road closure notice states that Grammar School Hill is closed from 30 July until 18.00 3rd August. The notice sent out to residents by the Wilderness team is misleading if it suggests anything different.

I wrote to Wilderness thus at 7.30 this evening:

"This morning I went to catch the bus from the top of Dancers Hill into Charlbury town Centre. When the bus arrived, the driver told me that he was unable to go into the town centre because the road was closed on the way out. According to your information given to residents,  the road from Five Ways junction down Grammar School Hill and up Church Street is closed only to festival traffic so why can’t the buses use it? It is very inconvenient for us disabled people to have extra distances to walk incurring quite a lot of pain and/or discomfort and difficulty.

"If there was a valid reason why the road is closed to buses I would accept that, but when it’s open to residents I cannot understand why it cannot be open to buses as well."

to which, at 22.17, I received this response:

"Hope you're well and thank you so much for getting in touch about this.

"We spoke with the relevant team earlier today and were reassured the buses will be permitted down this road.

"I will make sure this is logged but if you do encounter this issue again, please don't hesitate to let us know.

"Thank you so much for raising this with us."

There has already been an ‘roaming traffic person’, indeed a roaming minibus with a couple of guys in it out and about. We have had them reacting very quickly to issues here in Leafield, so suggest worth giving the organisers a call with any concerns as they seem to be able to help.

If it’s like previous years there will be a guy on a motorcycle out and about from tomorrow as well.

Be careful out and about as some of the Festival visitors are driving like crazy!

Hello,

I can answer a couple of notes here.  Regarding the sign for Lee Close, I asked them to put it there to help deter festival goers 1) getting the wrong turning and 2) having them park down a street with already limited parking .

They did say that they would have a roaming traffic person, who might be able to help with extra signage ? Not sure.

Regarding the police not knowing about the road closure, I believe and I might be wrong but they may be involved with the SAG ( Safety Advisory Committee)

Another point: there is a ‘No access to Festival’ sign at the entrance to Lee Close but not at the entrance to Dancers Hill. Does anyone know why not?

We’ve had a different problem. By 11am had had not one but 2 groups of festival goers in multiple vehicles who decided to use pull off in front of our house, pull off which is our access, so that they could all meet up and proceed in convoy!! And instead of using available space sensibly on both occasions parked across our drive blocking way out. What happened to common sense?

The same for the buses. They only found out this morning but were told it would start tomorrow. 

Buses are missing out the Enstone X roads, Church St and I’m guessing the Fiveways bus stop.

We live on Hixet Wood but have not received a permit (our house is tucked away). The same happened last year. I don't see why residents need a permit to access their own homes!

They are for the residents if you have a permit that they put through the doors yesterday for Hixet wood

Already had an accident on Hatching Lane with folk ignoring signs to ‘bypass’ the correct way in!!

At 8 am this morning I hoped to go from five ways to home on Church Street but was told no local access to Park Street & Church Street. The traffic down Enstone Rd is not flowing so the detour took 15 mins. Could residents please be let through?
