I'd thought that it was digestate from anaerobic digesters rather than sewage sludge that was being spread on the fields around Charlbury. It has a certain whiff, though not has bad as 'sewage sludge' and far less potentially hazardous.

Julie Lewis-Thompson tells me it has "the smell of death".'

I'm glad that it's not just me! Just from the smell, I would agree that it's agricultural. Not terribly unpleasant, but still with an slightly unfortunate whiff of faeces (for me - I suspect the experience of smells is very individual, so could be horrible for others).

Could it just be silage spread on the fields recently Rod? More sort of agricultural smelly than unpleasant though.

Stepping out the back door just now, unpleasant smell from somewhere - downwind from both the sewage treatment works (but does it??) and the growing encampment at Cornbury / Wilderness.  Can't quite place it, vaguely familiar - many more knowledgable people around Charlbury - anyone?
