Fri 5 Jun, 20:15 The problem is partially field run off, but it is also to do with gully emptying, which OCC cut back to once every 3 years despite the fact that autumn leaf fall is an annual event. There is no field run off at the moment, but the road drains are full of silt. Anyone who walks that stretch of road can see that for themselves. The road is in a parlous state due to Thames Water's failure to maintain Spelsbury STW to an adequate standard. A pump failure back in November resulted in multiple visits every day for about 5 months by HGV tankers, damaging the road still further. As explained to me by a TW employee, TW does not standardise its pumps and keep stock of small, medium and large ones, many STWs have bespoke pumps, so a breakdown results in an order for a bespoke product rather than an off the shelf replacement from TW stores. An order for a bespoke pump from a company whose creditworthiness and payment performance is questionable at best is unlikely to result in a prompt delivery. |

Fri 5 Jun, 17:38 It's absolutely diabolical especially for motorcyclists, looks more like Beirut. |

Fri 5 Jun, 17:31 I think Liz the water coming off the field hasn't somehow resolved itself without any intervention. Better to get that sorted because if not the holes in the road will reappear very soon again. |

Thu 4 Jun, 11:08 We are very well aware of the problem on that stretch of road. Now that the water running off a nearby field seems to have been sorted, it should be repaired fairly soon |

Thu 4 Jun, 10:25 Despite having been reported by several folk and me months ago, nothing whatever has been done about what used to be a road to Spelsbury. At what point, and how, do we invoke the mythical 'Section 56'? |
