Wed 3 Jun, 12:51 Thanks, Anna. I wasn't given a Router booklet when I was recently upgraded to a Smart Hub 2 for free -- only a EE new phone leaflet and a "useful guide". I've now found the router leaflet online. It gives a different 0800 number than the one in the user leaflet. I'll try both numbers next time there's a power cut. |

Wed 3 Jun, 11:43 Christine: I telephoned the BT 0800 number stated on my Router booklet. A Bot helpfully tested my Router line and informed me of the outage and likely re-connection time - no need for telephone recognition! |

Wed 3 Jun, 11:15 Internet and (digitised) landlines back on now for me in Ditchley Rd. And, yes, my power switches were also flipped yesterday during the thunder storm, with lightning apparently directly overhead. My computers and equipment fortunately spared by a Belkin strip. Have really struggled to report this outage to BT who no longer recognise my digitised landline as valid. Charlbury wasn't showing up on their outages map. EE was more helpful, but would love to know how I find the technical info for reporting outages demanded by BT. |

Wed 3 Jun, 11:07 We had a word with the guy from Openreach. Apparently several RCDs in the box by Enstone Crossroads were flipped, apparently caused by the storm yesterday. |

Wed 3 Jun, 10:04 Sounds like an Openreach issue then, as it provides underlying connection to all the providers on this thread (including Sky). My EE app now says a fix is expected by 1pm. |

Wed 3 Jun, 09:37 Amanda, are you in the same Ticknell/Ditchley/Wychwood area of town as the other reports? John, your hypothesis may be correct. I just visited the BT boxes again and noted that the large one on the bus shelter side is dead silent. Normally it is humming and often one can hear fans running. No sign of engineers there however. |

Tue 2 Jun, 22:36 More info: further to my earlier posts, 1. faults were reported to BT at around 4pm. 2. There was an extremely close to here lighting strike at around 3pm. 3. Equipment cabinets I understand have around two hours of backup battery power. 4. My internet went down completely at 7.06 pm ( a time recorded on my live weather data feed). Seems to me a mains trip/ fuse issue with the battery backup failing later. |

Tue 2 Jun, 22:03 I did the same Richard! Must have missed you... Openreach were marked on the road closure notices and I think it was them working on a trench across the Enstone Road to Wychwood Paddocks yesterday. Not sure if they were there today. Wonder also if this was a consequence of the thunderstorms this afternoon. |

Tue 2 Jun, 21:47 Just a further thought... All the posters who gave a location are probably served by the distribution boxes at the Slade/Enstone Road corner. Do people elsewhere in Charlbury still have Internet service? I just walked out to check the boxes and they are intact. Some may recall a few years ago when a collision at the corner caused a car to take out one of the boxes. |

Tue 2 Jun, 21:29 Thanks all for the updates. End of tomorrow, eh? Must be fairly major. Hope the OpenReach folks nearby didn't slice through a cable. |
