Have you tried "Compare the market.com"  Sergi, Alexander and the meerkat have always advised to be sensible, a high excess brings the premium down. It works.

Is "Howdens" David Howden CBE's company?  Well, partially employee-owned.  Is David Howden CBE the chap who is currently a tenant of Cornbury House?

Howden's has a 5-star Trustpilot rating with lots of glowing reviews.  I like the fact that it has a section on its website stating its willingness to help vulnerable clients.

I have found that the Terms and Conditions for (at least some) of the insurance products offered by Howden are not the same as those offered online by the same insurance company. You need to ask for what you want ... 

Howden do tend to look in the first place for the cheapest reliable company that is willing to cover your needs, but that's not usually the one that I pick from the various offers that they come up with.

Further to what Alice said, NFU Mutual also has an office in Witney - just round the corner from Sainsburys.

NFU Mutual in Stratford upon Avon (0800 0720168).  They are more expensive than online platforms because they are a Mutual society and they use people, telephones and paper copies of things.  They have always been very helpful.

You don't have to renew with the same company every year as there is no loyalty with any company these days, however if you argue your case and threaten to go elsewhere, you can usually sort things out.

Personally I would not use Howdens,  tried to increase my premium by 105%.

I have insured with Howden for the last 4 years.  I've always found them helpful and usually arrange the insurance via a telephone call but if you want to visit, they are in Witan Way in Witney.

Go into Howdens (were A Plan) in Witney or Carterton and have a face to face conversation.
